Eulogy for Robin

A central part of any funeral is eulogy and writing one takes time, its built upon input from all those people important to the deceased.  As such its deeply personal.  I wanted in this blog to share insight into the entire celebrant journey from naming ceremonies, wedding and funeral and have pondered how best to do this and therefore below you will find the first draft, complete with errors, of a fictious eulogy for the comedian, actor, and humanitarian Robin Williams.  I have deliberately dealt with and only used those elements of his life he

chose to make available to the public and have not referenced family or friends.

“Today, we gather to celebrate the life and legacy of a true legend, Robin Williams. As a devoted fan who has been touched by his humour, talent, and humanity, I am honoured to pay tribute to a man who brought joy to millions around the world.

In a world where laughter is often the best medicine, Robin Williams was the ultimate healer. His infectious energy, quick wit, and unparalleled comedic genius transcended mere entertainment; they touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of witnessing his magic.

Robin's performances were more than just acts; they were experiences that left an indelible mark on our souls. From his iconic roles in "Mrs. Doubtfire" to "Good Will Hunting" and "Dead Poets Society," he effortlessly transitioned from comedy to drama, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor. But it was not just his on-screen presence that captivated us—it was his off-screen kindness, compassion, and generosity that truly set him apart.

Robin's commitment to philanthropy, his dedication to bringing laughter to those in need, and his unwavering support for various charitable causes exemplified the depth of his character. As a fan, I will forever cherish the moments of pure joy and laughter that Robin brought into my life. His ability to find humour in the darkest of times, his uncanny impressions, and his boundless energy on stage were nothing short of magical. Each performance felt like a gift—a reminder that amidst life's challenges, there is always room for laughter and light.

Today, as we bid farewell to a comedic genius and a beloved soul, let us remember Robin Williams not only for his extraordinary talent but also for the warmth and humanity he exuded both on and off the screen. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, reminding us to embrace life with humour, kindness, and boundless love. In the words of Robin himself, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Thank you, Robin Williams, for sharing your spark with the world and igniting our hearts with laughter and love. You will forever hold a special place in the hearts of your fans.”
